An unrestricted fund established in memory of Bertha Wallace Reynolds, a woman with tremendous fortitude, dignity, and determination. Her children, Dwight Reynolds, Bruce Hensel and Nancy Reynolds Hensel, and Shirley Reynolds Rock set up the fund in honor of her devotion and dedication to them, her sweet kindness to all, her never-give-up attitude, and her adventurous spirit that kept a twinkle in her eye. When announcing grants, if practicable, use: The Bertha Wallace Reynolds Fund was established by her children to honor a woman with tremendous fortitude, dignity and determination. Despite little college education of her own, she worked tirelessly (yet with an expectation of seeing God's goodness expressed) to help her children achieve their college educations. She was a single working mother before that phrase was coined and often worked two (sometimes three) jobs at a time. Although she lost her own mother when she was a toddler, she taught her children what it means to have a strong, loyal, love, and she blessed those around her with her kindness. She often said, "It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice." Her adventurous spirit and the impact of her curiosity and interest to try new experiences had a lasting impression on her children. Additionally, they were influenced by her tremendous perseverance. She just never gave up until she figured out a solution to a problem. If the announcement of this grant inspires a single parent, or a child from a single parent family to persevere despite the odds, then this grant in her memory will be of additional value. The funds for this grant were given in loving memory by: Dwight Henry Reynolds of Redwood City, California Bruce Hensel and Nancy Reynolds Hensel of Vincennes, Indiana Shirley Reynolds Rock of Mercer Island, Washington .
